Austin - Ripon High Tournament

Ehhhh… The final buzzer goes off and Sierra High has won the tournament.  It was a hard fought tournament.  We won some games by a large margin and other games it came down to making a free throw.  I will never forget this tournament.  When we first walked in to the gym my teammate, Bryson and I were ready to go. We sat down with the rest of our team and were talking and laughing with our coach. Then the other team walked in and we got serious.  Our coach gave us our jerseys.  My coach tossed me forty-one and I was determined to make people remember my number.  We suited up and hit the court to warm up.  Coach was going around telling the team who was going to start the game.  My buddy Ike and I were told we were the four and five positions.

When we were done warming up the starting five sat down.  Coach told us we had to take care of detail and stay focused.  He also told us to execute our plays.  After we lost the tip-off I felt we were playing the best defense we had ever played, but it also helped that they ran the same plays we did.  There was no shot clock so it felt like my team was playing defense forever.  We were on defense until we got a steal and we were in “Early O,” one of our plays.  Carlos our point guard was bringing the ball down the court and we ran our plays.  The first point of the game goes to number forty-one me! The game continued and by half time the score was thirty-eight to twenty-eight.

Our coach was happy but thought the other team had too many points. Coach Mushot’s face told us every feeling he had; proud, scared, hopeful, and mad.  But the funny thing is he had a straight face and us as a team were able to pick up these emotions and show that we are in tune with him.  He told us the team we were playing couldn’t run with us so we took that speech and went out the second half to run the other team into the ground.  We ran up the score fifty to thirty-eight.  They only scored five points in the third and fourth quarter combined.  Our coach told us after the game we did a great job and to be proud of ourselves.

We had won the game and the tournament!

My First Dog

When my first dog, Kira died I was devastated. My dad was on his way to get gas and he put Kira in the back of his red ford pickup truck. Kira being a big golden brown dog, jumped out of the truck and got herself ran over. My dad stopped to pick up Kira off the road then got my mom and myself from the house. We then rushed her to the vet. It was as cold as a winter’s day in the vet’s office. Kira had stolen all of our hearts even if we only had her for a year. We all loved her because we shared so many memories together. After a long five minutes that felt more like two hours the vet came in and said Kira wouldn’t make it. As a family we decided to put Kira to sleep. We all mourned the loss of our special family member.
