Noe - Quad Ride

One of my favorite memories is the time I learned how to ride a quad with my Uncle Mauricio.  I was on vacation in a town in Mexico surrounded by green grassy mountains at my aunt’s house.  My uncle asked me to sit on his quad, and I quickly asked him why.  He told me he was going to teach me how to ride it.  My stomach dropped when I heard this, and I knew I needed to listen closely at what he told me.  Using his feet to press down on the gears, he showed me how to move the quad forward and in reverse.  Then he told me to take the quad on a drive, me sitting in the front driving with him sitting right behind me.  It smelled like gas and the motor was as loud as thunder.  My heart pumped fast in my chest because of my fear of crashing the quad, but once I got the hang of driving it, the fear disappeared.

My uncle then had to leave, so he left me in charge of the quad.  He also told me to go find my cousins Johnny and Javier, and take them on a ride.  At some point during the quad cruise, we felt like a bouncy ball because of the bumpy road.  I drove as fast as a racehorse, and then started slowing down, until we made it back to the house.  Once back to the house, I felt relieved we didn’t crash and happy I learned something new.  I will never forget the fun of that day when I learned to ride a quad.

Noe- Lemon Ice Cream

I love lemon ice cream.  The tanginess and tartness of the lemon flavor cools me down on scorching hot summer days. I have never liked the typical favorite flavors like vanilla or chocolate or strawberry. When I eat lemon ice cream, it looks as smooth as a smoothie and when I eat it, it is sour and sugary and refreshing.  The softness and creaminess of the ice cream hits my tongue, and my taste buds collect the flavor.  Sometimes I put it on a sugar cone or in a cup, or I even eat it straight from the container. When I run out of lemon ice cream, I either grab some more at the store or wait for the ice cream truck to come by. Then I’m ready to eat my favorite frozen treat.
