Christian - MY FIRST FOOTBALL GAME

"You guys have 15 minutes to get ready," coach said. I started putting on my black long socks, then I grabbed my pants and finished getting ready. We picked up our bags that were extremely heavy because our helmets and shoulderpads were in there. I felt like a little  kid because we climbed into a yellow bus. It smelled old. Not only did it smell old, but it looked old too. The seats where somewhat ripped  and covered with blue duck tape to match the seat. Since the bus didn't have air conditioning, we rolled down our windows sticking our heads out while the wind blew across our faces and cooled us down.

"SCREETCH," was the noise the bus made as it stopped. We got off and it was hot. Since our team colors are black and gold, we felt two times hotter. It felt like we were placed on a stove ready to melt. "Get in a straight line," said the team captain. We walked through the green grass and there they were the Escalon High football team. They were wearing ugly purple jerseys with yellow pants. We locked our eyes onto theirs really intimadating them. Although on the outside I felt strong and powerful, inside I was really nervous because it was my first high school football game.

We won the coin toss and picked to recieve the ball. Our best player Kevin Rainey, caught it,  found an opening and ran past  the other players. Our crowd was going crazy! "TOOUUCCHH DDOOWWNN SPARTANS!!!" Horns blew off from the crowd. Two minutes into the game and we could already taste victory. Kevin Rainey came to the sidelines and we all high-fived him for that amazing touchdown. The ref blew the whistle. We all heard it knowing it's time to play again. It was so hot, I grabbed a water bottle and splashed my face with the icy cold water. I got a little carried away because I almost went past the time period and almost caused a penalty!

I got into my three-point stance. "DOWN, SET, HUT."  I got up really fast trying to block the lineman in front of me. I could feel his sweaty jersey touching my hands, it was nasty. As much as  I wanted to just stop, I couldn't because that's just football. I kept moving my feet trying to push him back, not letting him touch our quarterback. I could feel all the grass clippings my cleats were cutting touching my legs. The ref blew the whistle indicating that the play was over.

We continued to have possession of the ball for most of the game giving us a higher chance to score. We scored 5 touchdowns. By now we were all so weary. The last buzzer went off. We finally saw all of our strenuous practices and hard work paying off, leaving us 1-0 for our season record! We beat them 27-0. We felt victorious and couldn't wait for the next football game!
